Well... "Us", that are we. And we am i - Kai Brücher.
I was introduced to music at a very early age. Due to the hobby of my father, who was a HiFi-Enthusiast, I always had the right sound around my ears.
As an instrumentalist, I started learning to play the organ at the age age of eight or nine. But after a short time, I realized, that this brought nothing to me and my organ teacher explained to my parents, that he couldn't teach me anything and that it would be better for me to start learning to play the piano.
The following two years of learning classical piano - honestly spoken - put me really off. At the moment, when I had just decided to resign, I got a new piano teacher, who was teaching me, what I really wanted to learn: To express my OWN thoughts on the keys. This guy was absolutely fabulous. This was not only a piano lesson, this was also a human relationship. I don't wanna call it a big friendship, but we were on the same wavelength, so to speak and we spent the lessons not only on the piano. A lot of times, we were also sitting in front of his stereo and listened to our favorite music. This belongs also to a good musical education, in my opinion. My motto was: "Don't take everything too serious and just try out new ways." During my adolescence, I discovered new interesting things and the piano became "No. 2" on my list of favorite things. But I still thank you Wolfgang Voßwinkel. The others taught me to handle the piano, you taught me to play!
My band "Duty Free" was the next musical accent in my life. Although I was musically second to none, this experience showed me, that I had studied too much behind closed doors. To play with others was something I hadn't learned before. At this point, a big thanks to "Duty Free" - the years together were great! I've learned a lot and I recall this time with gladness. Who has never played towards a Live-Audience - no matter if there are 20 or 20.000 people in the crowd - does not know, what he has missed.
I also am a big "Analog-Fetishist" - The 1980's hi-fi system, which I inherited from my dad, I wouldn't give away for even a million dollars. I dig "Vinyl", I am a self-confessed "Techno-loather" and I scorn casting shows.
I like the music of Spyro Gyra, Tom "The SHUUU" Schuman, Fourplay, Incognito, Al Jarreau and Manhattan Transfer, as well as Oscar Peterson, Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Monty Alexander, not to forget about Gershwin, Rachmaninov, Tschaikowsky und Ravel.
